Job Title: Early Years Practitioner

Location: Sheffield

Salary: £460 - £600 per week (depending on experience and qualifications)

Contract Type: Long-term / Temporary, Full-time / Part-time

Start Date: Immediate Start

Do you have a recognised Early Years qualification and a passion for helping young children learn, develop and build confidence? This could be an excellent opportunity to use your skills in an educational setting.

About the Role:

GSL Education South Yorkshire are looking for an Early Years Practitioner to support children's learning and development in an educational setting. This opportunity is primarily aimed at candidates suitable for Level 3 Teaching Assistant roles who can help young learners develop their communication, social skills, independence and confidence.

You'll work alongside teachers and other staff to deliver age-appropriate learning activities, support individual needs and help create a safe, positive classroom environment.

About the School:

The setting provides a supportive learning environment where children's early development, wellbeing and individual needs are a priority. Staff work collaboratively to deliver engaging learning experiences and help children build the foundations for future learning.

Responsibilities:

  • Support children's learning, development and early education through everyday classroom activities.

  • Assist with age-appropriate activities and engaging learning experiences.

  • Encourage children's communication, social development and independence.

  • Help maintain a safe, inclusive and well-organised learning environment.

  • Work alongside teachers and Early Years staff to support children's individual needs.

  • Observe children's progress and share relevant information with the teaching team.

  • Follow safeguarding procedures and promote children's welfare at all times.

Requirements:

This opportunity is primarily intended for candidates suitable for Level 3 Teaching Assistant roles, so holding a recognised Level 3 Early Years or childcare qualification is important. If you hold one of the qualifications listed below, or an equivalent recognised qualification, we encourage you to apply. Higher qualifications may be considered where they are appropriately recognised for the role.

Recognised qualifications include:

  • Level 3 Early Years Educator (EYE).

  • Equivalent recognised childcare qualifications.

  • Higher qualifications in Early Childhood Studies or Early Years, subject to recognition.

  • T Level in Education and Early Years.

  • BTEC Level 3 Children's Care, Learning and Development.

  • NVQ Level 3 in Children's Care, Learning and Development.

  • CACHE Level 3 in Childcare and Education.

Candidates without one of these qualifications should generally apply only if they have substantial, directly relevant Early Years experience that may make them suitable. Experience alone does not guarantee that formal requirements are met; suitability will need to be assessed. A general interest in working with children or unrelated experience will not be sufficient.

To work with GSL Education as an Early Years Practitioner, you should:

  • Have the right to work in the UK.

  • Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last two years.

  • Have an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.

Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection and that successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks including providing an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or completing an application for a new check.
