Cover Supervisor

Salary: £460 – £650 per week (depending on experience and qualifications)

Are you confident leading a classroom and keeping students engaged in their learning? A welcoming secondary school in Barnsley is looking for a reliable Cover Supervisor to support its pupils and maintain a positive learning environment.

About the Role:

As a Cover Supervisor, you'll lead classes during teachers' absences, ensuring students stay on task and complete the work provided. You'll manage classroom behaviour, follow lesson plans and help maintain a structured environment where students can continue learning effectively.

Responsibilities:

• Supervise classes and deliver work set by teaching staff.

• Maintain good classroom behaviour and address disruption appropriately.

• Ensure students understand the tasks and remain engaged throughout lessons.

• Follow school policies and safeguarding procedures.

• Provide feedback to teaching staff on student engagement and completed work.

• Help maintain a safe, organised and productive classroom environment.

Requirements:

• Experience working with children or young people is desirable.

• Strong communication and classroom management skills.

• Confidence leading a class and managing behaviour.

• A flexible, organised and reliable approach.

• Ability to follow instructions and work effectively with school staff.

• A genuine interest in supporting students' learning and development.

• Have the right to work in the UK.

• Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last two years.

• Have an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
