Location: Shepway
Salary Scale: £90 – £120 per day, depending on experience
Start Date: October 2026
End Date: Ongoing
Contract Type: Long Term, Full-time

About the role

GSL Education Kent are currently recruiting a Business Studies Learning Mentor to support pupils at a welcoming secondary school in Shepway. This opportunity would suit a Business Studies graduate or an individual with relevant subject knowledge who can help learners develop their understanding, improve their confidence and approach their studies with greater independence.

As a Business Studies Learning Mentor, you will provide focused academic guidance, helping pupils make sense of business concepts, explore real-world examples and strengthen the skills needed to succeed in their studies. Your ability to explain ideas clearly and make learning relevant will help pupils engage more confidently with the subject.

Business Studies Learning Mentor role

The successful Business Studies Learning Mentor will work with pupils individually and in small groups, reinforcing classroom learning and helping them address areas they find challenging. Support may include revisiting key business principles, developing written responses, strengthening analytical skills and encouraging pupils to apply their knowledge to practical business scenarios.

We are looking for a Business Studies Learning Mentor who can make subject content accessible, motivate learners and provide constructive support tailored to their individual needs.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have a degree or strong academic background in Business Studies, Business Management or a related subject

  • Demonstrate a sound understanding of business concepts, enterprise and the commercial world

  • Support pupils with subject knowledge, written work and the application of business theories

  • Help learners develop analytical thinking, problem-solving and evaluation skills

  • Build positive relationships and adapt support to suit different learning needs

  • Be patient, approachable and committed to helping young people make meaningful progress

Previous experience in a school, tutoring or mentoring environment would be advantageous. Applications from graduates with strong Business Studies knowledge and an interest in supporting young people are also welcome.

Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection and that successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks including providing an enhanced DBS on the update service, or completing an application for a new check.
