Job description

We are currently working with a specialist SEMH secondary school to recruit a passionate, dedicated and enthusiastic Science Teacher to join their team.

This is an exciting opportunity for a teacher who wants to go beyond the classroom and make a genuine difference to the lives of young people. Working with students with social, emotional and mental health needs, you will have the opportunity to bring Science to life, spark curiosity and help learners overcome barriers to education.

The successful candidate will be confident in delivering engaging, creative and accessible lessons while creating a safe, structured and supportive learning environment. Building positive relationships, maintaining high expectations and recognising individual achievements will be key to helping students develop both academically and personally.

The Ideal Candidate

We are looking for someone who:

  • Holds QTS or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification relevant to the role.

  • Has experience teaching Science at secondary level and a strong understanding of the curriculum.

  • Can deliver engaging, practical lessons that inspire curiosity and encourage participation.

  • Demonstrates excellent communication, behaviour management and relationship-building skills.

  • Is patient, resilient and adaptable, with a genuine passion for supporting young people with SEMH needs.

  • Is committed to inclusive education and helping every student reach their potential.

Experience within SEMH, SEND or alternative provision would be advantageous, although candidates with the right attitude, transferable skills and a willingness to make a difference are encouraged to apply.
