Job Title: Cover Supervisor
Location: Sheffield
Pay Rate: £460 - £650 per week (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract: Full-time/ Part-time, Day-to-day/ Long-term
Are you confident leading a classroom, keeping students motivated, and maintaining a positive learning environment when the regular teacher is absent?
GSL Education South Yorkshire Branch are recruiting enthusiastic and dependable Cover Supervisors (CS) to work in vibrant schools across Sheffield. We are looking for individuals who can manage classroom activities, communicate instructions effectively, and ensure students remain focused and engaged throughout their lessons.
As a Cover Supervisor, you will oversee pre-planned lessons during teacher absence, maintain classroom expectations, and provide guidance to help learners complete their assigned work in a structured and supportive environment.
Cover Supervisor Responsibilities:
- Supervise classes and deliver activities prepared by teaching staff
- Explain lesson instructions and provide clarification when necessary
- Maintain a calm, organised, and productive classroom atmosphere
- Encourage students to remain focused and complete assigned tasks independently
- Manage classroom behaviour in accordance with school policies and expectations
- Report relevant information about student participation, conduct, and completed work to teaching staff
Cover Supervisor Requirements:
- Previous experience working with children or young people in education, coaching, mentoring, or a similar setting is desirable
- Confidence supervising secondary-aged students across different subjects
- Strong communication, organisation, and interpersonal skills
- Understanding of effective classroom management and positive behaviour strategies
- Reliable, adaptable, and professional approach to working in school environments
- Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
