Job Title: Early Years Practitioner

Location: Sheffield

Salary: £460 - £600 per week (depending on experience and qualifications)

Contract Type: Long-term / Temporary, Full-time / Part-time

Start Date: Immediately

Are you passionate about helping young children learn, develop and build the foundations for a successful education? We are looking for a dedicated Early Years Practitioner in Sheffield, with a particular focus on candidates qualified for Level 3 Teaching Assistant roles.

About the Role:

As an Early Years Practitioner, you will support children's learning and development through engaging, age-appropriate activities and classroom-based assistance. Working alongside teachers and Early Years staff, you will help children develop their communication, social skills and independence while ensuring they feel safe, supported and ready to learn.

This opportunity is primarily suited to candidates with recognised Level 3 Early Years or childcare qualifications. If you have the relevant qualifications and are looking to make a positive difference in an educational setting, we would love to hear from you.

About the School:

The setting is committed to providing a supportive and inclusive learning environment where young children can develop essential skills and confidence. Staff work collaboratively to deliver engaging learning experiences and support each child's individual needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Support children's early learning, development and educational progress.

  • Assist teachers with age-appropriate classroom activities and learning experiences.

  • Encourage children's communication, social development and independence.

  • Provide individual and small-group support to meet children's learning needs.

  • Help maintain a safe, inclusive and well-organised learning environment.

  • Observe children's progress and share relevant information with teaching staff.

  • Follow safeguarding procedures and promote children's welfare at all times.

Requirements:

We are particularly interested in candidates who hold a recognised Level 3 Early Years or childcare qualification, as this opportunity is primarily intended for Level 3 Teaching Assistant roles. Candidates with the following qualifications, or an equivalent recognised childcare qualification, are encouraged to apply:

  • Level 3 Early Years Educator (EYE).

  • Equivalent recognised childcare qualifications.

  • Higher qualifications in Early Childhood Studies or Early Years, subject to recognition.

  • T Level in Education and Early Years.

  • BTEC Level 3 Children's Care, Learning and Development.

  • NVQ Level 3 in Children's Care, Learning and Development.

  • CACHE Level 3 in Childcare and Education.

Candidates who do not hold one of these qualifications should only apply if they have substantial, directly relevant Early Years experience that may make them suitable for the role. Suitability will be assessed, and extensive experience alone does not guarantee that formal qualification requirements are met.

You should also have:

  • Experience supporting young children's learning and development.

  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.

  • A patient, caring and adaptable approach.

  • The ability to work effectively as part of a team.

  • A strong understanding of safeguarding and children's welfare.

To work with GSL Education as an Early Years Practitioner, you should:

  • Have the right to work in the UK.

  • Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last two years.

  • Have an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.

Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection and that successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks including providing an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or completing an application for a new check.
