Job Title: Cover Supervisor

Salary: £460 - £650 per week (depending on experience and qualifications)

Are you confident leading a classroom and keeping students engaged in their learning? A secondary school in Barnsley is looking for a dependable Cover Supervisor who can step in during teacher absences and help lessons run smoothly.
About the Role:
As a Cover Supervisor, you'll take responsibility for supervising classes, delivering pre-prepared lesson materials and ensuring students stay on task. You'll need to give clear instructions, manage classroom behaviour and adapt to different subjects and age groups throughout the school day. This role is ideal if you enjoy working with young people and want to gain valuable experience in a secondary school setting.

Responsibilities:

Supervise classes across a range of subjects during teacher absences.

Deliver pre-prepared lesson activities and explain instructions clearly.

Maintain classroom discipline in line with the school's behaviour policies.

Encourage students to stay focused and complete the work provided.

Adapt confidently to different classrooms, subjects and year groups.

Report any behavioural concerns or incidents to the appropriate staff.

Ensure students follow school expectations and safeguarding procedures.
Requirements:

Experience working with children or young people is desirable.

Confident communication and classroom management skills.

A calm, organised and adaptable approach.

Ability to manage challenging behaviour professionally.

Confidence leading a classroom and maintaining students' attention.

A genuine interest in education and helping young people succeed.

Have the right to work in the UK.

Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last two years.

Have an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection and that successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks including providing an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or completing an application for a new check.
