Are you a patient, resilient and enthusiastic individual who enjoys helping children and young people overcome behavioural challenges and engage positively with learning? GSL Education Hull Branch are hiring a Behaviour Teaching Assistant to work across a range of school settings in Hull.

This role is ideal for someone who can build positive relationships with pupils, provide consistent guidance and help create a safe, structured learning environment. Candidates with experience supporting behavioural, emotional or social needs, as well as those with transferable skills from mentoring, youth work, care or pastoral support, are encouraged to apply.

Main Responsibilities

  • Provide one-to-one and small-group support to pupils who require additional behavioural or emotional support.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils while maintaining clear and consistent boundaries.
  • Help pupils develop emotional regulation, communication and social skills.
  • Implement appropriate behaviour management strategies and support the de-escalation of challenging situations.
  • Work alongside teachers and other support staff to promote positive behaviour and engagement in lessons.
  • Monitor pupils’ behaviour, participation and progress, sharing relevant observations with the wider team.

Minimum Requirements

  • Experience supporting children or young people with behavioural, emotional or social needs is desirable.
  • Experience in a school, pastoral support, mentoring, youth work, care or a similar setting is advantageous.
  • Patient, calm and resilient approach when managing challenging situations.
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Understanding of safeguarding, professional boundaries and pupil wellbeing.
  • An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one.
