SEND Intervention Practitioner

Location: Ashford, Kent
Salary: £93.33+ per day (depending on experience)
Contract: Full-time
Start Date: ASAP

GSL Education Kent are delighted to be supporting a fantastic specialist school in Ashford with the recruitment of a committed SEND Intervention Practitioner. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys working closely with children and young people, providing tailored interventions and helping them achieve their individual goals.

In this role, you will support pupils with a range of additional needs, including autism spectrum conditions, speech and language difficulties, social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs, and complex learning difficulties. Working collaboratively with teachers and other professionals, you will deliver personalised support to help pupils develop their communication, emotional regulation, independence, and social skills in a safe and inclusive environment.

This SEND Intervention Practitioner role is ideal for someone who is patient, adaptable, and passionate about making a lasting difference in the lives of children and young people with SEND.

Key Responsibilities for SEND Intervention Practitioner:

  • Deliver targeted 1:1 and small-group interventions tailored to pupils' individual needs
  • Support the implementation of EHCPs and personalised learning plans
  • Help pupils develop communication, social interaction, and emotional regulation skills
  • Support sensory needs and personal care requirements where necessary
  • Promote independence, confidence, and essential life skills
  • Work alongside teachers and other professionals to monitor and encourage pupil progress
  • Create a positive, inclusive, and nurturing environment that supports learning and wellbeing

Requirements for SEND Intervention Practitioner:

  • Experience working with children or young people with SEND in a school, care, or similar setting
  • A calm, patient, and understanding approach
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • The ability to adapt support strategies to meet individual needs
  • A genuine passion for supporting children with additional needs
  • Ability to follow safeguarding and child protection procedures at all times
  • Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply
