Job Title: Sports Coach / Learning Support

Location: Sheffield

Salary: £460 - £650 per week (depending on experience and qualifications)

Contract Type: Long-term / Temporary, Full-time / Part-time

Start Date: Immediately

Do you have a background in sport or coaching and enjoy helping young people stay focused, engaged and confident in the classroom? A welcoming school in Sheffield is looking for a Sports Coach / Learning Support professional to join their team.

About the Role:

This is a school-based classroom support role rather than a sports delivery or PE position. Your sporting background will provide useful transferable skills such as behaviour management, resilience, communication and the ability to create structure. Day to day, you will support pupils in lessons, assist with behaviour management, provide cover supervision and help students engage positively with their learning. Depending on the school's needs, this may include Primary or Secondary classroom support, EYFS or SEN support.

About the School:

This inclusive school is committed to providing a supportive and well-structured environment where pupils feel safe, valued and able to learn. Staff work collaboratively to maintain positive behaviour, high expectations and strong support for students with different learning needs.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide practical classroom support to pupils across the school.

  • Assist teachers with learning activities and day-to-day classroom routines.

  • Support positive behaviour and help pupils remain focused during lessons.

  • Provide cover supervision when required, following the work set by teaching staff.

  • Build positive relationships with pupils and encourage constructive engagement.

  • Use your sporting and coaching experience to bring structure, consistency and resilience to the classroom.

  • Support pupils with SEN, EYFS or other additional learning needs where required.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in sports, coaching, education, youth work or a similar setting is desirable.

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

  • A calm, patient and consistent approach to behaviour management.

  • Confidence working with children and young people in a classroom environment.

  • Ability to adapt to different pupils, lessons and school settings.

  • A genuine interest in supporting pupils' learning and development.

  • Sports or coaching experience is advantageous as a transferable skill, but sport will not be the main duty of the role.
