Job Title: Behaviour Support
Location: Sheffield
Pay Rate: £460 - £600 per week (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract: Full-time/ Part-time, Day-to-day/ Long-term

Can you help young people recognise what drives challenging behaviour and guide them towards calmer, more constructive ways of responding?

GSL Education South Yorkshire Branch are recruiting confident and resilient Behaviour Support staff to work in excellent schools across Sheffield. We would like to hear from individuals who can establish positive relationships with students, provide consistent guidance, and help those experiencing behavioural or emotional difficulties remain engaged with their education.

The Behaviour Support will work alongside teaching and pastoral teams to reduce behavioural barriers, encourage emotional regulation, and help learners develop strategies for managing challenging situations more independently.

Behaviour Support Responsibilities:

  • Provide individual guidance to students experiencing behavioural or emotional difficulties
  • Recognise triggers and early indicators of frustration, anxiety, or disengagement
  • Apply positive behaviour management and appropriate de-escalation strategies
  • Encourage young people to reflect on incidents and consider alternative responses
  • Reinforce consistent routines, expectations, and appropriate boundaries
  • Share relevant observations with teachers and pastoral colleagues to support progress

Behaviour Support Requirements:

  • Experience in education, mentoring, youth work, care, or a related setting is desirable
  • Understanding of positive behaviour management and de-escalation techniques
  • Ability to remain composed and respond appropriately in challenging circumstances
  • Confidence establishing clear boundaries while developing constructive relationships
  • Patient, resilient, observant, and adaptable approach to supporting young people
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
