Salary Scale: £92 – £115 per day (Depending on experience)
Are you a recent Psychology graduate looking to gain valuable experience working with children and young people in an educational setting? GSL Education Hull Branch are seeking Psychology Graduates to work in a school setting in York.
This opportunity is ideal for graduates who are looking to develop their experience in education, particularly those interested in supporting pupils with SEN, SEMH, behavioural or emotional needs. Candidates with transferable skills from areas such as mentoring, youth work, care, support work or other people-focused roles are also encouraged to apply.
Main Responsibilities
- Provide one-to-one and small-group support to pupils across the school setting.
- Support pupils with their learning, communication, emotional wellbeing and social development.
- Help pupils manage behaviour, build confidence and develop positive relationships.
- Assist teachers with classroom activities, interventions and learning resources.
- Encourage pupils to develop independence, engagement and positive attitudes towards learning.
- Monitor pupils’ progress and behaviour, sharing relevant observations with teaching and support staff.
Minimum Requirements
- A recent degree in Psychology or a relevant qualification is desirable.
- Previous experience working with children or young people is advantageous but not essential.
- Transferable experience from mentoring, youth work, care, support work or similar people-focused roles.
- Patient, empathetic and resilient approach when supporting pupils with different needs.
- Strong communication, relationship-building and teamwork skills.
- An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one.
