Job title: SEMH Teacher

Location: Sheffield

Salary: Up to £220 per day (depending on experience)

Contract Type: Long-Term/ Day-to-day, Full-Time / Part-Time

Are you a compassionate teacher who can create a structured and supportive learning environment for pupils with SEMH needs?

GSL Education South Yorkshire Branch are currently looking for a committed SEMH Teacher to work with a dynamic school in Sheffield. This opportunity would suit a teacher who can adapt their teaching to individual needs while helping pupils develop academically, emotionally and socially.

Your responsibilities as an SEMH Teacher:

  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons adapted to pupils' individual needs.
  • Create a calm, structured and inclusive classroom environment.
  • Support pupils with social, emotional and mental health needs.
  • Use appropriate strategies to manage behaviour and promote positive engagement.
  • Monitor academic and personal progress.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils and encourage their confidence.
  • Work closely with support staff, families and other professionals where appropriate.

Requirements for the SEMH Teacher role:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent is essential.
  • Previous experience working with pupils with SEMH, SEND or behavioural needs is desirable.
  • Strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
  • Ability to adapt teaching approaches to individual learning needs.
  • Patient, resilient and emotionally aware approach.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) certificate on the Update Service, or willingness to apply.
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
