Are you confident supporting pupils to develop positive behaviours and re-engage with learning?
GSL Education South Yorkshire Branch are seeking a patient and proactive Behaviour Support to work with a welcoming school in Sheffield. The role focuses on helping pupils manage behaviour, develop positive routines and build stronger relationships with education.
As a Behaviour Support, you will:
- Provide individual and small-group support to pupils with behavioural needs.
- Help pupils understand and manage their emotions and behaviour.
- Encourage positive choices and appropriate classroom conduct.
- Build constructive relationships with pupils and establish clear boundaries.
- Support students in returning to learning after periods of disengagement.
- Work alongside teachers and pastoral staff to implement support strategies.
- Record and communicate relevant behavioural observations and concerns.
Requirements for the Behaviour Support role:
- Previous experience supporting children or young people with behavioural needs is desirable.
- Experience in behaviour support, SEMH, SEND, youth work or a similar setting would be beneficial.
- Calm, patient and consistent approach when dealing with challenging situations.
- Ability to establish positive professional relationships with pupils.
- Good understanding of behaviour management strategies.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) certificate on the Update Service, or willingness to apply.
- Good understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
The role of a Behaviour Support focuses on more than managing difficult moments. You’ll help pupils understand their behaviour, recognise positive choices and develop strategies that can support their engagement with learning.
