Job Title: Behaviour Support
Location: Rotherham
Pay Rate: £460 - £650 per week (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract: Full-time/ Part-time, Day-to-day/ Long-term

Can you help young people overcome behavioural challenges, develop positive habits, and build the confidence they need to succeed in school?

GSL Education South Yorkshire Branch are recruiting patient and resilient Behaviour Support staff to work in schools across Rotherham. We would like to hear from individuals who can establish trusting relationships with students, provide consistent guidance, and help those experiencing behavioural or emotional difficulties engage positively with their education.

As a Behaviour Support, you will work alongside teachers and pastoral teams to support students with behavioural needs, encourage emotional regulation, and help create a calm, structured learning environment where young people can make meaningful progress.

Behaviour Support Responsibilities:

  • Provide individual and small-group support to students experiencing behavioural difficulties
  • Help learners recognise emotional triggers and develop positive coping strategies
  • Apply effective behaviour management and appropriate de-escalation techniques
  • Encourage respectful communication, positive relationships, and responsible decision-making
  • Support teachers in maintaining classroom routines and clear behavioural expectations
  • Monitor behavioural progress and share relevant observations with teaching and pastoral staff

Behaviour Support Requirements:

  • Previous experience in behaviour support, education, mentoring, youth work, or a related setting is desirable
  • Understanding of behavioural challenges and social-emotional needs in school environments
  • Ability to remain calm and respond appropriately during challenging situations
  • Confidence establishing positive relationships while maintaining clear boundaries
  • Patient, resilient, empathetic, and adaptable approach to supporting young people
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
