Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Rotherham
Pay Rate: £460 - £600 per week (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract: Full-time/ Part-time, Day-to-day/ Long-term

GSL Education South Yorkshire Branch are seeking dedicated and understanding SEN Teaching Assistant to support students in schools across Rotherham. We are looking for individuals who can provide personalised assistance to children with Special Educational Needs (SEN), encourage active participation in learning, and help create an inclusive environment where every student has the opportunity to succeed.

The Special Educational Needs TA will have the opportunity to work alongside teachers and specialist support staff to adapt learning activities, address individual needs, and help students develop essential academic, communication, and social skills.

SEN Teaching Assistant Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and small-group support to students with additional learning needs
  • Assist teachers in adapting classroom activities to suit different abilities
  • Support learners with communication, social interaction, and emotional development
  • Encourage independence, confidence, and participation in daily learning activities
  • Help implement individual education plans and targeted support strategies
  • Monitor student progress and communicate relevant observations to teaching staff

SEN Teaching Assistant Requirements:

  • Previous experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs is desirable
  • Understanding of different learning difficulties and additional support requirements
  • Ability to adapt communication and support approaches to individual needs
  • Confidence working collaboratively with teachers and specialist professionals
  • Patient, compassionate, observant, and flexible approach to supporting students
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
