Learning Support Assistant
Location: Fareham, Hampshire
Hours: Monday to Friday, 8:30am – 2:40pm
Contract: Full-Time, Permanent
Start Date: ASAP

GSL Education are currently working in partnership with a welcoming and inclusive secondary school in Fareham who are looking for a full-time Learning Support Assistant to join their team as soon as possible.
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Learning Support Assistant, Teaching Assistant, Behaviour Support Worker or someone with relevant experience working with young people to join a school that places ambition, respect, resilience and achievement at the heart of its community.

About the role
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with teaching staff and the school's wider support team to provide high-quality support to students across the school.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Providing 1:1 and small-group support to students who require additional help with their learning.
- Supporting students with a range of additional needs, including SEN, communication needs, Autism, ADHD and social, emotional and behavioural needs.
- Helping students to overcome barriers to learning and develop greater independence.
- Supporting teachers to create a positive, inclusive and engaging learning environment.
- Building positive and trusting relationships with students.
- Encouraging students to develop confidence, resilience and a positive attitude towards their education.
- Supporting positive behaviour and helping students to remain engaged in their learning.
- Working collaboratively with teachers, SEN staff and the wider school team.
The ideal candidate
The school is looking for someone who is:
- Passionate about supporting young people and making a genuine difference.
- Patient, approachable and able to build strong relationships with students.
- Confident supporting students with additional needs and/or challenging behaviour.
- Reliable, proactive and committed to providing excellent support.
- A strong communicator who works well as part of a team.
- Previous experience within a school, SEN, youth work, care, sports coaching or a similar environment is highly desirable.
Experience within education is beneficial, but the school will also consider candidates with relevant transferable experience who are passionate about progressing their career in education.
