Job title: Design and Technology Teacher

Location: Sheffield

Salary: Up to £220 per day (depending on experience)

Contract Type: Long-Term/ Day-to-day, Full-Time / Part-Time

Are you a creative and enthusiastic Design and Technology Teacher ready to inspire students through practical learning?

GSL Education South Yorkshire Branch are seeking a creative and knowledgeable Design and Technology (D&T) Teacher to work with a welcoming school in Sheffield. This opportunity would suit someone who enjoys practical teaching and can help pupils develop their design, technical and problem-solving abilities.

Your responsibilities as a Design and Technology Teacher:

  • Plan and deliver engaging practical and theory-based D&T lessons.
  • Develop students’ creativity, design and technical skills.
  • Encourage independent thinking through practical projects.
  • Prepare appropriate resources, materials and equipment.
  • Ensure learners follow relevant health and safety procedures.
  • Assess students' work and provide constructive feedback.
  • Maintain a positive and well-managed classroom environment.

Requirements for being a DT Teacher:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent is essential.
  • Strong knowledge of Design and Technology and relevant curriculum areas.
  • Previous experience teaching D&T in a school environment is desirable.
  • Confident classroom and practical activity management skills.
  • Ability to engage pupils with different abilities and learning needs.
  • Strong planning, communication and organisational skills.
  • Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) certificate on the Update Service, or willingness to apply.
  • Good understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
