Salary: £460–£600 per week (depending on experience)

Contract Type: Long-Term/ Day-to-day, Full-Time / Part-Time

Are you a caring and adaptable Teaching Assistant who can help pupils feel supported, included and ready to learn?

GSL Education South Yorkshire Branch are currently looking for a dedicated Teaching Assistant (TA) to work with a school in Sheffield. The role would suit someone who can provide consistent classroom support while helping pupils develop confidence, independence and positive learning habits.

As a Teaching Assistant, you will:

  • Support students during classroom activities and learning tasks.
  • Provide one-to-one and small-group assistance where appropriate.
  • Help students understand instructions and remain engaged.
  • Encourage students  to become more independent in their learning.
  • Assist teachers with classroom resources and daily routines.
  • Build positive relationships with pupils and staff.
  • Support an inclusive, safe and welcoming classroom environment.

Requirements for the role:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people as a Teaching Assistant or similar position is expected.
  • Experience in education, childcare or learning support would be beneficial.
  • Patient, caring and adaptable approach.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a wider school team.
  • Reliable and committed attitude towards supporting pupils.
  • Good understanding of safeguarding and child protection is very important.
  • Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) certificate on the Update Service, or willingness to apply.
