Job Title: Design and Technology Teacher
Location: Barnsley
Pay Rate: Up to £220 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract: Full-time/ Part-time, Day-to-day/ Long-term

GSL Education South Yorkshire Branch are recruiting creative and technically skilled Design and Technology Teacher to work with reputed schools in Barnsley. We are seeking qualified educators who can combine technical knowledge with hands-on learning, helping students develop confidence in designing, making, testing, and evaluating their own work.

As a Design and Technology Teacher, you will deliver practical and theory-based lessons that develop creativity, technical understanding, problem-solving abilities, and confidence with a range of materials and processes.

DT Teacher Responsibilities:

  • Plan and deliver engaging lessons across the Design and Technology curriculum
  • Guide learners through research, design development, prototyping, production, and evaluation
  • Demonstrate safe and effective use of tools, machinery, materials, and specialist equipment
  • Encourage experimentation, creative thinking, and practical problem-solving
  • Assess project work and provide constructive feedback to support improvement
  • Maintain appropriate health and safety standards during practical activities

D&T Teacher Requirements:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or a recognised equivalent teaching qualification
  • Strong knowledge of the Design and Technology curriculum
  • Practical understanding of relevant materials, processes, and workshop equipment
  • Previous experience teaching Design and Technology is desirable
  • Effective communication, organisation, and classroom management skills
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
