Job Title: Teaching Assistant
Location: Barnsley
Pay Rate: Up to £220 per day (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract: Full-time/ Part-time, Day-to-day/ Long-term

GSL Education South Yorkshire Branch are recruiting committed and adaptable Teaching Assistants to work in schools across Barnsley. We are seeking individuals who can work effectively alongside teachers, provide targeted assistance where needed, and help create an inclusive environment where students can participate and progress.

As a TA, you will contribute to everyday classroom learning by reinforcing lesson content, supporting individuals and small groups, and encouraging learners to become increasingly independent.

Teaching Assistant Responsibilities:

  • Provide focused assistance during lessons and classroom activities
  • Work individually and with small groups to reinforce key concepts
  • Adapt resources and tasks according to different abilities and learning needs
  • Encourage participation, confidence, and independent working
  • Monitor progress and communicate useful observations to teaching staff
  • Contribute to positive classroom routines and an inclusive learning environment

Teaching Assistant Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable
  • Understanding of different learning needs and appropriate support strategies
  • Ability to communicate effectively and establish positive relationships
  • Confidence supporting individuals and small groups
  • Patient, organised, reliable, and adaptable approach to classroom work
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
