Job Title: Behaviour Support (SEN)
Location: Sheffield S5
Salary: £460 – £600 per week (depending on experience and qualifications)
Contract Type: Long-term / Temporary, Full-time / Part-time
Start Date: September 2026
Are you passionate about helping young people manage challenges and feel more confident in the classroom? A supportive school in Sheffield is looking for a dedicated Behaviour Support professional to join their team from September 2026.
About the Role:
As a Behaviour Support (SEN), you will work closely with students who may need additional support with behaviour, emotional regulation and engagement in learning. You will provide consistent classroom and one-to-one support, helping students understand expectations, manage difficult situations and make positive progress. Working alongside teachers and other school staff, you will help maintain a calm and structured environment where students can focus on learning.

Responsibilities:

Provide one-to-one and small-group support for students with SEN and behavioural needs.

Help students manage emotions and respond appropriately to challenging situations.

Support teachers with behaviour management and classroom routines.

Build trusting and consistent relationships with students.

Encourage positive engagement with learning and school activities.

Reinforce clear boundaries and expectations in a calm, consistent manner.

Share relevant observations and concerns with teaching and pastoral staff.
Requirements:
-
Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEN or behavioural needs is desirable.

A patient, calm and resilient approach.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
-
Ability to build positive relationships with students.

Confidence managing challenging behaviour in a supportive way.

Ability to work effectively with teachers and wider school staff.

A genuine commitment to helping young people overcome barriers to learning.
To work with GSL Education as a Behaviour Support (SEN), you should:

Have the right to work in the UK.

Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last two years.

Have an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection and that successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks including providing an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or completing an application for a new check.
We also offer, via our partner, access to accredited Education-relevant CPD courses.
