Job Title: Cover Supervisor

Salary: £460 – £650 per week (depending on experience and qualifications)

Contract Type: Long-term / Temporary, Full-time / Part-time

Are you confident leading a classroom and looking for a role where no two days are quite the same? A supportive secondary school in Doncaster is seeking a dependable Cover Supervisor to join their team.

About the Role:

As a Cover Supervisor, you will supervise classes across Key Stages 3 and 4 when teachers are unavailable. You will provide students with clear instructions, oversee pre-prepared work and manage the classroom so learning can continue smoothly. You will work across different subjects and year groups, making this a great opportunity to build your experience within a secondary school environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Supervise classes across Key Stages 3 and 4 in the absence of the usual teacher.

  • Deliver pre-prepared work and ensure students understand the tasks set.

  • Maintain positive behaviour and address low-level disruption appropriately.

  • Keep students focused and engaged throughout each lesson.

  • Follow school policies and procedures consistently.

  • Provide useful feedback to teaching staff after lessons.

  • Support a calm, safe and productive classroom environment.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable.

  • Confident communication and classroom management skills.

  • A calm, organised and reliable approach.

  • Ability to work across a range of subjects and year groups.

  • Good awareness of safeguarding and professional boundaries.

  • Ability to use initiative while following established lesson plans.

  • Experience within a secondary school or education setting is advantageous.

To work with GSL Education as a Cover Supervisor, you should:

  • Have the right to work in the UK.

  • Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last two years.

  • Have an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.

Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection and that successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks including providing an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or completing an application for a new check.
