Salary: £460 – £650 per week (depending on experience and qualifications)

Are you confident managing a classroom and looking for an opportunity to support pupils across different subjects? A welcoming secondary school in Sheffield is seeking a reliable Cover Supervisor to join their team.
About the Role:
As a Cover Supervisor, you will take responsibility for supervising classes when their usual teacher is unavailable. You will deliver pre-prepared work, maintain a positive classroom environment and ensure students remain focused and engaged with their learning. This role offers the opportunity to work across different year groups and subject areas while gaining valuable experience in a secondary school setting.

Responsibilities:

Supervise classes across Key Stages 3 and 4 in the absence of the usual teacher.

Deliver pre-prepared lesson materials and instructions effectively.

Maintain good classroom behaviour and manage low-level disruption appropriately.

Support students to remain focused and complete their assigned work.

Follow school policies and procedures throughout the school day.

Provide relevant feedback to teaching staff following lessons.

Help maintain a calm, safe and productive learning environment.
Requirements:
-
Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable.

Confident classroom management and communication skills.

A calm, organised and consistent approach.
-
Ability to work across different subjects and year groups.

Good understanding of professional boundaries and safeguarding.

Ability to use initiative while following lesson plans and school procedures.

Experience in a secondary school or education setting is advantageous.

Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last two years.

Have an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection and that successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks including providing an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or completing an application for a new check.
