Salary: £460 – £600 per week (depending on experience and qualifications)
Contract Type: Long-term / Temporary, Full-time / Part-time

Are you passionate about supporting young people and helping them overcome barriers to learning? A supportive secondary school in Sheffield is looking for a dedicated Behaviour Support Assistant to join their team.
About the Role:
As a Behaviour Support Assistant, you will work closely with subject teachers and pastoral staff to support students across Key Stages 3 and 4. Your day-to-day role will involve helping students manage their behaviour, stay engaged in lessons and make positive choices throughout the school day. You will provide support during lessons and transitions, build positive relationships with pupils and help maintain a calm and focused learning environment.

Responsibilities:

Provide individual and small-group support to students experiencing behavioural or emotional difficulties.

Work alongside subject teachers to support positive behaviour and engagement in lessons.

Help students manage lesson transitions and settle effectively into learning.

Build trusting, professional relationships with students while maintaining appropriate boundaries.

Encourage positive choices, participation and independent learning.

Monitor behaviour and provide relevant feedback to teachers and pastoral staff.

Support a calm, safe and structured environment across the school.
Requirements:

Previous experience supporting children or young people is desirable.

Experience in behaviour support, pastoral work or an education setting is advantageous.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

A patient, consistent and resilient approach.

Confidence working with adolescent learners.

Ability to work effectively alongside teachers and pastoral teams.

A genuine commitment to helping young people succeed.
To work with GSL Education as a Behaviour Support Assistant, you should:

Have the right to work in the UK.

Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last two years.

Have an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection and that successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks including providing an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or completing an application for a new check.
