Job Title: Behaviour Teaching Assistant
Location: Hull
Contract: Temporary, Full Time, Term Time Only
Start Date: As Soon As Possible
Salary: £92 - £115 per day (Depending on experience)
Are you a resilient and compassionate Teaching Assistant with experience supporting pupils with behavioural and additional needs? Do you have the patience, consistency and confidence to help SEN, SEMH and SEND pupils manage challenges and engage positively with their learning?
GSL Education Hull Branch are currently seeking a Behaviour Teaching Assistant to work across schools in Hull. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who can build positive relationships with young people and provide calm, consistent support to pupils who may experience behavioural, social, emotional or other barriers to learning.
Behaviour Teaching Assistant Role:
The successful Behaviour Teaching Assistant will work closely with teachers and support staff to help pupils manage behaviour, emotions and challenges that may affect their education. You will provide individual and small-group support to SEN, SEMH and SEND pupils, helping them develop positive behaviours, confidence and greater independence.
Behaviour Teaching Assistant Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one and small-group support to pupils with SEN, SEMH and SEND needs.
- Build positive and trusting relationships with pupils while maintaining clear and consistent boundaries.
- Support pupils to manage emotions, regulate behaviour and develop positive learning habits.
- Respond calmly and appropriately to challenging behaviour using agreed strategies and school procedures.
- Assist teachers with classroom activities and provide additional support to help pupils access learning.
- Monitor pupils’ behaviour, engagement and progress and share relevant observations with teachers and support staff.
Behaviour Teaching Assistant Requirements:
- Previous experience supporting pupils with behavioural, SEN, SEMH or SEND needs is desirable.
- Strong understanding of the importance of consistent boundaries and positive behaviour support.
- Patient, resilient and calm approach when working with challenging or unpredictable situations.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage pupils positively.
- Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, support staff and other professionals while following individual support strategies.
- An up-to-date CV covering the last 10 years with explanations for any gaps
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply for one.
