About the role
GSL Education Kent are currently recruiting a Drama Mentor to join a supportive secondary school in Dover. This is an excellent opportunity for a Drama graduate, performing arts professional or experienced education practitioner who enjoys working with young people and wants to use their creative skills to support pupils both academically and personally.
As a Drama Mentor, you will work with pupils through engaging creative activities, helping them develop confidence, communication and collaboration skills. You will encourage participation, support positive behaviour and create opportunities for pupils to express themselves in a safe and purposeful environment.

Drama Mentor role
The successful Drama Mentor will provide targeted support to pupils through Drama and Performing Arts activities, helping them develop communication, teamwork and self-expression. You may work with individuals or small groups, adapting activities to suit different needs and levels of confidence.
We are looking for a Drama Mentor who is enthusiastic, approachable and able to use creative approaches to engage young people who may benefit from additional encouragement and support.
The successful candidate will:

Have a degree, qualification or strong professional background in Drama, Performing Arts or a related subject

Be confident using creative activities to engage and motivate young people

Build positive relationships with pupils and encourage their participation

Support pupils to develop communication, confidence and teamwork skills

Be patient, adaptable and able to respond to different individual needs

Demonstrate strong communication and behaviour management skills

Ideally have previous experience working with young people in an educational, mentoring or youth setting
Experience in schools, youth work, tutoring, mentoring, theatre or Performing Arts would be advantageous, although applications from enthusiastic graduates with strong Drama backgrounds are welcome.
Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection and that successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks including providing an enhanced DBS on the update service, or completing an application for a new check.

In addition to that, GSL Education is currently offering £100 for the successful referral of either Teachers or Teaching Assistants (Ts & Cs apply).
