Job Title: Behaviour Support Assistants
Location: Hull
Contract Type: Temporary, Supply, Part-Time, Full-Time
Start Date: As Soon As Possible
Salary Scale: £92 – £115 per day (Depending on experience)
Are you patient, resilient and passionate about helping children and young people manage their behaviour and overcome barriers to learning? GSL Education Hull Branch are looking for Behaviour Support Assistants to work across a range of schools in Hull.
This role is ideal for someone who can build positive relationships with pupils, provide calm and consistent support, and help create a safe, structured environment where students can engage positively with their education. Experience in behaviour-focused, pastoral, youth, care or mentoring settings can be highly valuable.
Main Responsibilities
- Provide one-to-one and small-group support to pupils who require additional behavioural or emotional support.
- Build positive, trusting relationships while maintaining clear and consistent boundaries.
- Support pupils with emotional regulation, communication, social skills and positive behaviour.
- Use appropriate strategies to respond to challenging behaviour and help de-escalate difficult situations.
- Work closely with teachers and support staff to implement individual behaviour and learning strategies.
- Monitor pupils’ behaviour, engagement and progress, sharing relevant observations with the wider team.
Minimum Requirements
- Experience supporting children or young people with behavioural, emotional or social needs is desirable.
- Background in education, pastoral support, youth work, care, mentoring or similar settings is advantageous.
- Patient, calm and empathetic approach with the resilience to manage challenging situations.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Good understanding of safeguarding, professional boundaries and promoting pupil wellbeing.
- An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one.
