Job Title: SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Rotherham
Pay Rate: £460 - £600 per week (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract: Full-time/ Part-time, Day-to-day/ Long-term

GSL Education South Yorkshire Branch are supporting amazing schools in Rotherham for  recruiting patient and adaptable SEN Teaching Assistant (TA). We are seeking individuals who can recognise different learning needs, build positive relationships, and provide tailored assistance that enables students to access classroom activities and make meaningful progress.

The Special Education Needs Teaching Assistant will work alongside teachers and specialist staff to reduce barriers to learning, reinforce key skills, and encourage greater confidence and independence.

SEN Teaching Assistant Responsibilities:

  • Provide targeted one-to-one and small-group assistance based on individual needs
  • Adapt activities and resources to make learning more accessible
  • Reinforce literacy, numeracy, communication, and other key developmental skills
  • Encourage learners to participate, communicate, and work more independently
  • Observe progress and share relevant information with teaching and SEN staff
  • Follow individual support plans and agreed intervention strategies

SEN Teaching Assistant Requirements:

  • Experience supporting children or young people with additional needs is desirable
  • Understanding of Special Educational Needs (SEN) and inclusive learning practices
  • Ability to adjust support according to different abilities and circumstances
  • Strong communication and relationship-building skills
  • Patient, attentive, dependable, and flexible approach to educational support
  • Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
