Job Title: SEN Support Worker
Location: Hull
Contract Type: Temporary, Supply, Part-Time, Full-Time
Start Date: As Soon As Possible
Salary Scale: £92 – £115 per day (Depending on experience)
Are you caring, patient, and passionate about supporting children and young people with special educational needs? GSL Education Hull Branch are currently recruiting dedicated SEN Support Workers to work across educational and specialist support settings in Hull.
This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who can provide personalised support, build trusting relationships, and help young people develop their confidence, independence, communication, and everyday skills.
Main Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one and small-group support to children and young people with a range of SEN and additional needs.
- Support individuals with learning, communication, social, emotional, behavioural, and daily living needs where appropriate.
- Build positive and trusting relationships while providing consistent encouragement and clear boundaries.
- Support pupils to develop independence, confidence, social skills, and positive engagement with activities.
- Work closely with teachers, support staff, families, and other professionals to provide consistent and individualised support.
- Monitor engagement and progress, sharing relevant observations and concerns with the appropriate staff.
Minimum Requirements:
- Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEN, SEND, SEMH, disabilities, care needs, or additional needs is desirable.
- Experience in education, care, youth work, support work, mentoring, or a similar setting would be advantageous.
- A patient, compassionate, and resilient approach with the ability to respond appropriately to individual needs.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with children and young people.
- A genuine commitment to safeguarding, inclusion, and promoting the welfare and development of those you support.
- An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one.
