Job Title: Motor Vehicle Tutor
Location: Hull
Contract: Full-Time
Start Date: As Soon As Possible
Salary: £30,000-£38,000 per annum (Depending on experience)
Are you an experienced Motor Vehicle professional, Level 2 or Level 3 Mechanic, or automotive specialist looking to share your practical knowledge with young people? Do you have strong hands-on experience with cars and a passion for helping others develop valuable technical skills?
GSL Education Hull Branch are currently seeking a Motor Vehicle Tutor to work in a specialist educational setting in Hull. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Motor Vehicle Tutor, Motor Vehicle Teacher, Car Mechanic or Automotive professional who can bring practical industry knowledge into an engaging learning environment. Teaching qualifications are not essential where candidates have strong relevant automotive experience.
Motor Vehicle Tutor Role:
The successful Motor Vehicle Tutor will support learners through practical, hands-on automotive activities, helping them develop their understanding of vehicle maintenance, repair and workshop practices. You will use your industry experience to demonstrate techniques, encourage safe working practices and build learners’ confidence and employability skills.
Motor Vehicle Tutor Responsibilities:
- Deliver practical motor vehicle activities covering vehicle maintenance, components, servicing and basic repairs.
- Demonstrate appropriate automotive techniques and guide learners through hands-on workshop tasks.
- Support learners to develop practical skills, confidence, independence and workplace awareness.
- Adapt practical activities and explanations to suit different abilities and learning needs.
- Maintain a safe, organised workshop environment and ensure appropriate health and safety procedures are followed.
- Monitor learners’ engagement and progress, providing constructive feedback and encouragement.
Motor Vehicle Tutor Requirements:
- Level 2 or Level 3 Motor Vehicle qualification, apprenticeship or equivalent relevant industry experience.
- Strong hands-on experience as a Car Mechanic, Motor Vehicle Technician, Automotive Technician or similar professional.
- Good practical knowledge of vehicle servicing, maintenance, components, diagnostics and workshop safety.
- Previous experience mentoring, training or supporting others is desirable, but formal teaching qualifications are not essential.
- Patient, approachable and confident when working with young people who may have additional needs or barriers to learning.
- An up-to-date CV covering the last 10 years with explanations for any gaps
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply for one.
