Salary Scale: £92 – £115 per day (Depending on experience)

GSL Education Hull Branch are currently seeking a Teaching Assistant to work in a welcoming secondary school setting in York. This is an exciting opportunity for a dedicated individual to join a supportive team and provide meaningful assistance to pupils across their day-to-day learning.
Teaching Assistant Role:
The successful Teaching Assistant will work alongside teachers and support staff to help pupils access the curriculum and participate confidently in school life. You will provide targeted support where needed, encourage positive learning behaviours and contribute to an inclusive classroom environment.
Teaching Assistant Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one and small-group support to pupils during lessons and learning activities.
- Assist teachers with preparing resources and delivering differentiated classroom tasks.
- Encourage pupils to participate actively in lessons and develop greater independence.
- Build positive and professional relationships with pupils while maintaining appropriate boundaries.
- Support positive behaviour and contribute to a calm, respectful and inclusive learning environment.
- Monitor pupils’ engagement and progress and share relevant observations with teachers and the wider support team.
Teaching Assistant Requirements:
- Previous experience working with children or young people in a school, youth, care or similar setting is desirable.
- A genuine interest in supporting pupils’ academic, social and personal development.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships.
- Patient, adaptable and proactive approach to supporting pupils with different learning needs.
- Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and other professionals while also using initiative when required.
- An up-to-date CV covering the last 10 years with explanations for any gaps
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply for one.
