Job Title: SEMH Support Staff (Primary)
Location: Doncaster
Salary: £460 – £600 per week (depending on experience and qualifications)
Contract Type: Long-term / Temporary, Full-time / Part-time
Start Date: Immediate Start
Are you passionate about helping children overcome barriers to learning? A supportive primary school in Doncaster is looking for SEMH Support Staff to help pupils feel settled, engaged and ready to learn.
About the Role:
In this role, you will provide day-to-day support for pupils who may need additional help with their social, emotional and mental health. Working alongside the class teacher and wider school team, you will help children manage emotions, build confidence and engage positively with learning.

This inclusive primary school places a strong focus on children's wellbeing, positive behaviour and individual development. Staff work closely together to create a calm and structured environment where pupils across EYFS, KS1 and KS2 can feel supported throughout the school day.
Responsibilities:

Provide one-to-one and small-group support for pupils with SEMH needs.

Help pupils manage emotions and develop positive behaviour strategies.

Support children with classroom learning and daily routines.

Build positive and professional relationships with pupils.

Encourage engagement, confidence and age-appropriate independence.

Work closely with the class teacher and pastoral staff.

Share relevant observations and feedback with the wider school team.
Requirements:

Previous experience supporting children is desirable.

Experience working with SEMH, behavioural or pastoral needs is advantageous.

A calm, patient and consistent approach.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to respond positively to challenging situations.

A genuine commitment to supporting children's wellbeing and development.

Have the right to work in the UK.

Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last two years.

Have an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection and that successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks including providing an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or completing an application for a new check.
