Job Title: Teaching Assistant (Primary)
Location: Chesterfield
Salary: £460 – £600 per week (depending on experience and qualifications)
Contract Type: Long-term / Temporary, Full-time / Part-time
Start Date: Immediate start
Are you passionate about helping children learn, grow and enjoy their time at school? A welcoming primary school in Chesterfield is looking for a dedicated Teaching Assistant to join its team and support pupils across the classroom.
About the Role:
As a Teaching Assistant, you will work alongside the class teacher to support children with their learning and day-to-day development. You may provide one-to-one or small-group support, assist with classroom activities and help pupils stay engaged and confident throughout the school day.

This inclusive primary school provides a caring and structured environment where children are encouraged to develop their skills and confidence. The staff team works closely together to support positive behaviour, early learning and strong progress across EYFS, KS1 and KS2.
Responsibilities:

Support pupils with their learning across the primary classroom.

Work alongside the class teacher to deliver engaging activities.

Provide one-to-one and small-group support where needed.

Assist with early learning, literacy and numeracy activities.

Encourage positive behaviour and age-appropriate independence.

Support pupils during lessons, break times and wider school activities.

Help maintain a safe, welcoming and well-organised classroom environment.
Requirements:

Previous experience working with children is desirable.

A genuine interest in supporting children's learning and development.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

A patient, caring and adaptable approach.
-
Ability to work effectively alongside teachers and other school staff.

Experience in a primary, nursery or childcare setting is advantageous.

Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last two years.

Have an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection and that successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks including providing an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or completing an application for a new check.
