Job Title: Sports Coach / Learning Support
Location: Worksop
Salary: £460 – £650 per week (depending on experience and qualifications)
Contract Type: Long-term / Temporary, Full-time / Part-time

Do you have a background in sport and enjoy helping young people stay motivated, focused and ready to learn? A supportive school in Worksop is looking for a Sports Coach / Learning Support professional to join their team.
About the Role:
This is a school-based classroom support role, with your main focus on helping pupils with learning, behaviour and engagement rather than delivering sports sessions. Working alongside teachers, you will support pupils in lessons, help maintain positive behaviour and provide structure throughout the school day.
Your experience in sport, coaching or fitness can provide useful transferable skills, including resilience, teamwork, communication, behaviour management and the ability to motivate others. Sport is your background, but classroom and pupil support will be your main duty.

Responsibilities:

Provide classroom-based learning and behaviour support to pupils.

Work alongside teachers to support engagement and participation.

Help pupils remain focused and follow classroom routines.

Support individual pupils or small groups where required.

Assist with behaviour management and maintaining a calm learning environment.

Provide support during lessons, transitions and other parts of the school day.

Use transferable coaching skills to provide consistency, motivation and structure.
Requirements:

Previous experience working with children or young people is desirable.

A background in sport, coaching or fitness is advantageous but not essential.

Strong communication and behaviour management skills.

A patient, resilient and consistent approach.

Confidence working within a classroom environment.

Ability to work collaboratively with teachers and wider school staff.

A genuine interest in supporting pupils' learning and development.
To work with GSL Education as a Sports Coach / Learning Support, you should:

Have the right to work in the UK.

Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last two years.

Have an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection and that successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks including providing an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or completing an application for a new check.
