Learning Support Assistant / SEN Teaching Assistant – Harlow – ASAP Start
Are you a Learning Support Assistant, Teaching Assistant, SEN Teaching Assistant or experienced support worker looking for a rewarding long-term opportunity in Harlow?
GSL Education is currently recruiting for a full-time, long-term Learning Support Assistant to work within an Additional Resource Provision, at a primary school in Harlow, supporting children with SEN, learning difficulties and complex additional needs.
This is a fantastic opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting children with additional needs and wants to develop their experience within a specialist provision.
About the Role
Working within the school's Additional Resource Provision, you will provide high-quality support to children with a range of special educational needs, learning difficulties and complex needs.
You will work closely with teachers, the SENCO and the wider school team to help pupils access learning, develop independence and build positive relationships.
Your responsibilities may include:
- Supporting pupils with SEN, SEND, learning difficulties and complex needs
- Providing 1:1 and small-group support where required
- Supporting children to access the curriculum and participate in classroom activities
- Helping pupils develop their communication, social and emotional skills
- Supporting positive behaviour and emotional regulation
- Using a calm, patient and consistent approach
- Following individual learning and support strategies
- Encouraging independence and confidence
- Building positive, trusting relationships with pupils
- Working closely with teachers, SENCOs and other professionals
- Supporting pupils both within the specialist provision and, where appropriate, within mainstream classroom environments
