Job Title: Teaching Assistant

Salary Scale: £92 – £115 per day (Depending on experience)

GSL Education Hull Branch are currently seeking a Teaching Assistant to work in a specialist educational setting in York. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is committed to supporting pupils with a range of learning, communication, social and emotional needs within a structured and nurturing environment.
Teaching Assistant Role:
The successful Teaching Assistant will work closely with teachers and the wider support team to provide personalised assistance to pupils throughout the school day. You will help learners access their education, manage challenges and develop greater confidence and independence.
Teaching Assistant Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one and small-group support to pupils with a range of additional learning needs.
- Assist teachers with delivering accessible and differentiated learning activities.
- Build positive, trusting relationships with pupils while maintaining clear and consistent boundaries.
- Support pupils with communication, social, emotional and behavioural needs in a calm and patient manner.
- Encourage positive behaviour, engagement and independence throughout the school day.
- Monitor pupils’ progress and provide feedback to teachers and other relevant staff regarding their needs and development.
Teaching Assistant Requirements:
- Previous experience supporting children or young people in an educational, care or similar pupil-facing environment is desirable.
- Experience working with pupils with SEND, ASC or social, emotional and behavioural needs would be advantageous.
- Resilience, patience and the ability to remain calm and consistent when supporting challenging situations.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with a nurturing and supportive approach.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a wider team and follow individual support strategies.
- An up-to-date CV covering the last 10 years with explanations for any gaps
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply for one.
