GSL Education South Yorkshire Branch are currently looking for a creative Design and Technology (D&T) Teacher to work with a school in Barnsley. This role offers the chance to combine subject knowledge with practical learning and encourage pupils to experiment, design, evaluate and improve their work.
Your responsibilities as a Design and Technology Teacher:
- Plan and deliver practical and theory-based D&T lessons.
- Develop students’ design, making and problem-solving abilities.
- Prepare suitable materials, resources and equipment.
- Encourage creativity and independent thinking.
- Ensure pupils understand and follow relevant health and safety procedures.
- Monitor progress and give constructive feedback.
- Create a purposeful and well-managed classroom environment.
Requirements to be a Design and Technology Teacher:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent is essential for a D&T Teacher.
- Strong knowledge of Design and Technology and relevant curriculum areas.
- Previous experience teaching D&T within a school environment is desirable.
- Confident management of practical activities and classroom routines.
- Ability to support pupils with varied abilities and learning needs.
- Effective communication and organisation skills.
- Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) certificate on the Update Service, or willingness to apply.
- Good understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
Practical subjects can give students the chance to see their ideas develop from planning through to completion. This role would suit someone who enjoys creating purposeful activities and encouraging students to learn through both experimentation and problem-solving.
