GSL Education South Yorkshire Branch are seeking a caring and dependable Teaching Assistant (TA) to work with a school in Barnsley. The role would suit someone who enjoys supporting pupils individually and in small groups while working alongside teachers to create a positive and inclusive classroom.
As a Teaching Assistant, your responsibilities will include:
- Support pupils with classroom activities and day-to-day learning.
- Provide one-to-one or small-group assistance when required.
- Help pupils understand instructions and complete tasks.
- Encourage independence and positive learning behaviours.
- Assist teachers with classroom resources and routines.
- Support pupils' communication and social development.
- Contribute to a calm and welcoming learning environment.
Requirements for the Teaching Assistant role:
- Previous experience supporting children or young people is desirable.
- Experience in education, childcare, tutoring or a related setting would be advantageous.
- A patient, supportive and adaptable approach.
- Good communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Confidence working as part of a wider school team.
- Commitment to supporting pupils' wellbeing and progress.
- Enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) certificate on the Update Service, or willingness to apply.
- Good understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
A good Teaching Assistant can make everyday classroom experiences easier and more positive for pupils. Your consistency, patience and willingness to help can support children as they develop both academically and personally.
