PE Teacher
Location: Barnsley
Salary: Up to £220 per day (Depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract Type: Day-to-day / Long Term, Full-time / Part-time
Are you a passionate and enthusiastic PE Teacher looking for an opportunity to inspire young people through sport and physical activity?
GSL Education South Yorkshire Branch are currently seeking a dedicated PE Teacher to work within schools across Barnsley.
As a PE Teacher, you will plan and deliver a broad range of practical and theoretical PE lessons, adapting activities to meet the needs and abilities of all pupils. You will create a positive environment where students are encouraged to participate, challenge themselves and develop a lifelong interest in physical activity.
Responsibilities of a PE Teacher:
- Plan and deliver engaging, inclusive and age-appropriate PE lessons across different year groups.
- Teach a range of sports and physical activities in line with the relevant curriculum.
- Encourage pupils to participate actively and develop a positive attitude towards physical activity.
- Develop pupils’ physical skills, fitness, teamwork, communication and sportsmanship.
- Adapt activities and teaching approaches to meet individual abilities and additional learning needs.
- Maintain high standards of behaviour, safety and participation during lessons.
- Assess and monitor pupils’ progress and provide constructive feedback.
- Encourage pupils to develop confidence, resilience, discipline and independence.
- Organise and support extracurricular sporting activities and school events where required.
- Work collaboratively with Teaching Assistants, support staff and other members of the PE department.
Requirements of a PE Teacher:
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
- Previous experience teaching PE within a secondary or primary school setting is desirable.
- Strong knowledge of the PE curriculum and a range of sporting activities.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- A positive, enthusiastic and encouraging approach.
- Ability to motivate pupils of different abilities and backgrounds.
- Relevant degree or qualification in PE, Sport or a related subject is desirable.
