Job Title: Mechanic Tutors

Salary: £30,000-£38,000 per annum (Depending on experience)

GSL Education Hull Branch are currently recruiting for a practical and enthusiastic Mechanic Tutor to work within a specialist educational setting in Hull. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with hands-on motor vehicle experience who is passionate about helping young people develop practical skills and explore future careers in the automotive industry.
About the Role
You do not necessarily need a teaching qualification for this role. We are particularly interested in candidates with a Level 2 or Level 3 Motor Vehicle/Mechanic qualification, or relevant hands-on experience working with cars and motor vehicles.
You will support young people through practical, workshop-based learning, helping them develop their understanding of vehicle maintenance, repair, tools, and safe working practices. The role would suit an experienced mechanic, vehicle technician, motor vehicle professional, or someone with a strong automotive background who is interested in sharing their skills within an educational environment.
Core Responsibilities of the Mechanic Tutor
- Deliver practical, hands-on activities relating to motor vehicle maintenance and mechanics.
- Demonstrate safe and effective use of tools, equipment, and workshop facilities.
- Support learners in developing practical automotive skills and technical knowledge.
- Explain vehicle systems, maintenance procedures, repairs, and basic fault-finding in an accessible way.
- Encourage learners to develop confidence, independence, teamwork, and employability skills.
- Maintain a safe, structured, and positive learning environment in line with relevant health and safety requirements.
As the Ideal Mechanic Tutor, You Should Have
- A Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Motor Vehicle, Mechanics, Vehicle Maintenance, or a related area, or equivalent practical experience.
- Hands-on experience working with cars, motor vehicles, vehicle maintenance, or mechanical repairs.
- Strong practical knowledge of automotive tools, equipment, systems, and safe working practices.
- The ability to demonstrate and explain practical tasks clearly to young people.
- A patient, approachable, and encouraging attitude when supporting learners.
- A genuine interest in helping young people develop practical skills and explore careers in the motor vehicle industry.
To Work with GSL Education, You Must:
- Have the right to work in the UK.
- Have an up-to-date CV with at least 2 professional references covering the last 2 years.
- Have recent experience working with children or young people, where applicable.
- Hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to apply for one.
