Salary Scale: £174.70 to £270.94 per day (MPS/UPS)

GSL Education Hull Branch are currently recruiting for a dedicated Teacher of Maths to provide maternity cover within a supportive secondary school setting in York. This is an excellent opportunity for an enthusiastic teacher who can deliver engaging lessons, maintain high expectations, and support students to make strong academic progress.
About the Role
As a Teacher of Maths, you will plan and deliver engaging lessons across the secondary Maths curriculum, supporting students with different abilities and learning needs. You will create a positive classroom environment, develop students’ mathematical understanding, and encourage them to approach problem-solving with confidence.
Core Responsibilities of the Teacher of Maths
- Plan and deliver engaging Maths lessons across the secondary curriculum.
- Develop students’ mathematical knowledge, reasoning, problem-solving, and confidence.
- Differentiate lessons and resources to meet a range of abilities and learning needs.
- Maintain high standards of behaviour and create a positive learning environment.
- Assess students’ work, monitor progress, and provide constructive feedback.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to support students’ academic progress and wider development.
As the Ideal Teacher of Maths, You Should Have
- Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
- Strong subject knowledge across the secondary Maths curriculum.
- Previous experience teaching Maths within a secondary school setting.
- Excellent classroom management and communication skills.
- The ability to plan engaging lessons and adapt teaching to different learning needs.
- A positive, enthusiastic, and student-focused approach to teaching.
To Work with GSL Education, You Must:
- Have the right to work in the UK.
- Have an up-to-date CV with at least 2 professional references covering the last 2 years.
- Have recent experience working with children or young people.
- Hold an Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be willing to apply for one.
