Job Title: Advance Teaching Assistant
Location: York, North Yorkshire
Contract Type: Temporary, Supply, Part-Time, Term Time Only
Start Date: As Soon As Possible
Salary Scale: £102 – £120 per day (Depending on experience)
Are you an experienced and confident Teaching Assistant ready to take on a more senior role within a school environment? GSL Education Hull Branch are currently hiring a dedicated Advanced Teaching Assistant to work in an educational setting in York.
This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled education professional who can provide high-quality pupil support, take greater responsibility for learning activities, and work confidently alongside teachers and wider support staff. The successful candidate will be expected to use their experience to support pupils’ progress, behaviour, and engagement across the school day.
Main Responsibilities:
- Provide targeted one-to-one and small-group support, helping pupils overcome barriers to learning and make positive progress.
- Lead or support planned learning activities, interventions, and enrichment sessions in line with pupils’ needs.
- Work closely with teachers to plan differentiated activities, prepare resources, and contribute to effective classroom delivery.
- Take responsibility for supporting pupils or groups independently when required, maintaining high expectations and positive behaviour.
- Monitor pupils’ progress, engagement, and behaviour, providing detailed feedback to teachers and relevant staff.
- Support and guide less experienced Teaching Assistants where appropriate, contributing to a collaborative and effective support team.
Minimum Requirements:
- Substantial experience as a Teaching Assistant, Learning Support Assistant, or in a similar educational support role.
- A relevant Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification or equivalent experience is desirable.
- Strong understanding of effective classroom support, differentiated learning, and strategies for overcoming barriers to learning.
- Confident communication, organisation, and classroom management skills, with the ability to work independently when required.
- A proactive, reliable, and professional approach with the confidence to take on additional responsibilities.
- An Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service, or willingness to apply for one.
