Job Title: Attendance Officer
Location: Sheffield
Pay Rate: £460 - £600 per week (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract: Full-time/ Part-time, Day-to-day/ Long-term
Could you help improve school attendance by identifying concerns early, communicating effectively with families, and supporting young people to remain engaged with their education?
GSL Education South Yorkshire Branch are supporting excellent schools across Sheffield for seeking organised and proactive Attendance Officer. We are looking for individuals who can maintain accurate records, identify patterns of absence or lateness, and work professionally with students, families, and school teams to promote regular attendance.
The Attendance Officer will have the opportunity to play an important role in monitoring attendance, following up unexplained absences, and helping identify barriers that may prevent young people from attending school consistently.
Attendance Officer Responsibilities:
- Review daily attendance and punctuality records using relevant school systems
- Follow up unexplained absences and investigate recurring attendance concerns
- Contact parents and carers regarding absence, lateness, and attendance expectations
- Maintain detailed records of communications, interventions, and agreed actions
- Compile attendance data and reports for pastoral teams and school leaders
- Work with safeguarding and support staff when further intervention may be required
Attendance Officer Requirements:
- Experience in school administration, attendance, pastoral support, or a related role is desirable
- Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail
- Ability to handle confidential and sensitive information appropriately
- Professional communication skills when dealing with families, students, and colleagues
- Confidence using administrative systems and maintaining accurate records
- Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
