Job Title: Behaviour Support
Location: Sheffield
Pay Rate: £460 - £650 per week (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract: Full-time/ Part-time, Day-to-day/ Long-term
Can you provide the structure and encouragement young people need to manage challenging behaviour, make positive choices, and re-engage with learning?
GSL Education South Yorkshire Branch are recruiting resilient and approachable Behaviour Support for vibrant schools in Sheffield. This opportunity would suit individuals who can build constructive relationships with students, recognise factors that contribute to difficult behaviour, and respond with consistent strategies that promote improved engagement and emotional regulation.
The Behaviour Support will work alongside teaching and pastoral teams to help learners overcome behavioural barriers, develop greater self-awareness, and participate more positively in their education.
Behaviour Support Responsibilities:
- Build respectful relationships with young people who require additional behavioural guidance
- Recognise triggers and early signs of frustration, withdrawal, or disruption
- Implement agreed strategies to encourage positive behaviour and emotional regulation
- Guide students through difficult situations using appropriate de-escalation techniques
- Record significant incidents and monitor changes in engagement and conduct
- Coordinate with teachers and pastoral colleagues to ensure consistent support
Behaviour Support Requirements:
- Previous experience in education, mentoring, youth work, care, or a related environment
- Understanding of positive behaviour management and de-escalation approaches
- Ability to remain composed and make appropriate decisions in challenging situations
- Confidence establishing clear boundaries while maintaining supportive relationships
- Strong communication skills with a patient, resilient, and adaptable approach
- Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
