Job Title: Cover Supervisor
Location: Sheffield
Pay Rate: £460 - £650 per week (depending on experience)
Start Date: Immediate
Contract: Full-time/ Part-time, Day-to-day/ Long-term

GSL Education South Yorkshire Branch are looking for capable and adaptable Cover Supervisor (CS) to work with amazing schools in Sheffield. We welcome individuals who are comfortable taking responsibility for a class, can communicate effectively with young people, and are able to maintain a focused learning environment across different subjects.
As a Cover Supervisor, you will oversee lessons using work prepared by teaching staff, helping students remain engaged and ensuring classroom routines continue smoothly during teacher absence.
Cover Supervisor Responsibilities:
- Oversee classes and introduce pre-prepared lesson activities
- Clarify task instructions without taking over the role of the subject teacher
- Encourage learners to remain focused and complete assigned work
- Maintain appropriate standards of behaviour throughout each session
- Respond to classroom issues using established school procedures
- Pass relevant information about engagement, conduct, and completed work back to teaching staff
Cover Supervisor Requirements:
- Experience working with young people in education, coaching, mentoring, or a related setting is desirable
- Confidence taking responsibility for groups of secondary-aged students
- Clear communication and effective interpersonal skills
- Understanding of appropriate classroom and behaviour management techniques
- Reliable and flexible approach to working across different subjects and year groups
- Enhanced DBS on the update service (or willingness to apply)
