Job Title: SEMH Support Staff (Primary)
Location: Doncaster
Salary: £460 – £600 per week (depending on experience and qualifications)
Contract Type: Long-term / Temporary, Full-time / Part-time

Are you passionate about helping children manage challenges and feel more settled in the classroom? A supportive primary school in Doncaster is looking for SEMH Support Staff to provide consistent, practical support to pupils throughout the school day.
About the Role:
In this role, you will support children who may experience social, emotional and mental health needs that affect their learning and behaviour. Working alongside class teachers and pastoral staff, you will help pupils regulate their emotions, engage with lessons and develop positive routines.
You may provide one-to-one or small-group support across EYFS, KS1 or KS2, adapting your approach to suit each child's individual needs and helping them make steady progress.

Responsibilities:

Provide one-to-one and small-group support to pupils with SEMH needs.

Help children manage emotions, behaviour and barriers to learning.

Support pupils to engage positively with classroom activities.

Work alongside the class teacher to maintain consistent routines.

Encourage confidence, independence and appropriate social interaction.

Support age-appropriate pastoral and behavioural needs.

Share relevant observations and feedback with teaching and pastoral staff.
Requirements:

Previous experience supporting children or young people is desirable.

Experience with SEMH, behaviour support or additional needs is advantageous.

A calm, patient and consistent approach.

Strong communication and relationship-building skills.

Confidence supporting children through challenging situations.

Ability to adapt your approach to individual pupils.

A genuine commitment to helping children feel supported and succeed.

Have the right to work in the UK.

Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last two years.

Have an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection and that successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks including providing an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or completing an application for a new check.
