Job Title: Sports Coach / Learning Support
Location: Rotherham
Salary: £460 - £650 per week (depending on experience and qualifications)
Contract Type: Long-term / Temporary, Full-time / Part-time

Do you have a background in sport or coaching and want to put your skills to use supporting pupils in the classroom? A welcoming school in Rotherham is seeking a Sports Coach / Learning Support professional to help pupils with learning, behaviour and engagement.
About the Role:
This is a school-based classroom support role, not a sports delivery position. You will work alongside teachers to support pupils with their learning, behaviour and day-to-day engagement, with opportunities to provide classroom, SEN and cover supervision support.
Your sporting or coaching experience can bring valuable transferable skills to the role, including confidence, resilience, structure and behaviour management. Sport is your background, but supporting pupils in the classroom will be your main responsibility.

Responsibilities:

Provide classroom support to pupils across the school.

Support pupils with behaviour, engagement and learning.

Work alongside teachers to assist with classroom activities.

Provide cover supervision when required.

Support pupils with SEN and additional learning needs.

Use transferable coaching skills to provide structure and encourage positive behaviour.

Build positive relationships with pupils and promote appropriate classroom conduct.

Help maintain a calm, safe and purposeful learning environment.
Requirements:

Previous experience in sport, coaching, education, youth work or a similar setting is desirable.

A genuine interest in supporting children and young people in education.

Strong communication and behaviour management skills.

A calm, patient and resilient approach.

Confidence maintaining structure and clear boundaries.

Ability to work effectively as part of a wider school team.

Previous classroom or SEN support experience is advantageous.
To work with GSL Education as a Sports Coach / Learning Support, you should:

Have the right to work in the UK.

Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last two years.

Have an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection and that successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks including providing an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or completing an application for a new check.
