Salary: £460 - £650 per week (depending on experience and qualifications)

Do you have a background in sport or coaching and want to use your skills to support pupils in the classroom? A welcoming school in Sheffield is seeking a Sports Coach / Learning Support professional to provide valuable classroom and behaviour support.
About the Role:
This is a school-based classroom support role rather than a sports delivery position. You will work alongside teachers to support pupils with learning, behaviour and engagement across the school, which may include Primary or Secondary classrooms, EYFS or SEN provision.
Your sports or coaching background can be a real asset, particularly when it comes to maintaining structure, managing behaviour, building positive relationships and keeping pupils engaged. Sport is your background, but your main responsibility will be supporting pupils with their education and day-to-day school experience.

Responsibilities:

Provide classroom support to pupils across Primary or Secondary settings.

Support pupils with behaviour, engagement and learning.

Assist teachers with classroom activities and day-to-day learning.

Provide cover supervision when required.

Support pupils within EYFS or SEN settings where appropriate.

Use your experience of sport and coaching to bring structure, resilience and positive engagement to the classroom.

Build positive relationships with pupils and encourage appropriate behaviour.

Help maintain a calm, safe and supportive learning environment.
Requirements:

Previous experience in sport, coaching, education, youth work or a similar setting is desirable.

A genuine interest in supporting children and young people in education.

Strong behaviour management and communication skills.

A calm, patient and resilient approach.

Ability to provide structure and maintain clear boundaries.

Confidence working with pupils with a range of needs.

Classroom support or SEN experience is advantageous.
To work with GSL Education as a Sports Coach / Learning Support, you should:

Have the right to work in the UK.

Have an up-to-date CV with two relevant references from within the last two years.

Have an enhanced DBS registered to the Update Service or be willing to apply for one through GSL Education.
Please be advised that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection and that successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks including providing an enhanced DBS certificate registered on the update service, or completing an application for a new check.
