Job Title: SEND Teaching Assistant

Contract Type: Temporary, Supply, Part-Time, Full-Time
Start Date: As Soon As Possible
Salary Scale: £92 – £115 per day (Depending on experience)

GSL Education Hull Branch are currently looking for a SEND Teaching Assistant to work across schools in Hull. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is committed to providing personalised support and helping pupils develop academically, socially and emotionally within an inclusive learning environment.
SEND Teaching Assistant Role:
The successful SEND Teaching Assistant will provide tailored support to pupils with a range of additional needs, working closely with teachers and other professionals to promote engagement and progress. You will help create a calm, supportive environment where pupils feel encouraged to participate and develop their confidence and independence.
SEND Teaching Assistant Responsibilities:
- Provide one-to-one and small-group support to pupils with a range of SEND needs.
- Assist teachers in delivering accessible and differentiated learning activities.
- Support pupils with communication, social, emotional and behavioural needs where required.
- Encourage pupils to develop confidence, independence and positive learning behaviours.
- Help implement individual support strategies and contribute to monitoring pupils’ progress.
- Promote a safe, inclusive and nurturing classroom environment in line with safeguarding procedures.
SEND Teaching Assistant Requirements:
- Previous experience supporting children or young people with SEND is desirable.
- A good understanding of additional needs such as Autism, ADHD, SEMH, communication difficulties or learning difficulties.
- Patience, resilience and a nurturing approach when supporting pupils with different needs and behaviours.
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
- Ability to work effectively with teachers, support staff and other professionals as part of a wider team.
- An up-to-date CV covering the last 10 years with explanations for any gaps
- An Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to apply for one.
